What are the advantages of a dental crown?

A porcelain or ceramic dental crown is a fixed prosthesis that can be compared to a cap that replaces the visible part of the tooth. It can be simply aesthetic, fixed over the natural tooth in the case of decay, or placed on an abutment after the insertion of a dental implant following extraction. For aesthetic reasons (but also for quality reasons), Studio Dentaire uses only cosmetic ceramic crowns. The crown is made with a zirconia infrastructure renowned for its strength. This infrastructure is covered by cosmetic ceramics, enabling the tooth to be reproduced with a high degree of aesthetics and naturalness – a process known as layering.

This material imitates the natural appearance of the tooth, including its transparency, without revealing the metallic edging that would betray the presence of a prosthesis in the event of gum retraction. Above all, this type of crown integrates perfectly with the surrounding dental tissue for lasting well-being. In the event of extraction, the crown enables normal speech and mastication to be restored. Studio Dentaire uses an optical camera to take dental impressions for ceramic crowns. This revolutionary camera, the brainchild of Lyon dentist Prof. François Duret nearly 50 years ago and now fully perfected, enables us to quickly take a 3D digital impression of the entire dentition with a high degree of precision and without the slightest distortion. The file is then sent to our dental technician partners, who create your custom-made artificial dental crown within 2 to 3 weeks. The highly realistic result is designed to blend harmoniously with your teeth, while respecting your natural smile and facial expressions. In addition to precision, the optical camera also offers greater comfort than the traditional technique of placing paste in the mouth, which dates back to ancient times.
