How is a dental implant placed?
The dental surgeons at Studio Dentaire in Lyon 3rd receive you for an oral health check-up prior to any treatment. During this first appointment at our office, the practitioner assesses bone density, in particular, to determine whether implant surgery is feasible. If so, a pre-implant bone graft may be suggested. The dental implant is inserted under local anaesthetic in our operating theatres in the heart of the Part-Dieu district. The surgeon makes an incision in the gum, then installs the screw and fixes it in the jawbone. A small suture is then inserted. Finally, the surgeon prescribes painkillers and makes recommendations on the hygiene measures to be taken when you return home. After a week, you return to the surgery to have the stitches removed. After that, you’ll need four to six months to heal before a fixed denture can be fitted. In the meantime, your dental surgeon may suggest a temporary prosthesis to cover the empty space.
