What’s the difference between an implant and a denture?

A dental implant replaces the root of a missing tooth. A prosthesis replaces the visible part of the tooth: the crown.

The implant takes the form of a titanium screw that is placed in the jawbone. As this material is biocompatible, it will integrate with the bone as it heals – in our jargon, this is called osseointegration.

Once healing is complete, an abutment will be fixed to the implant to accommodate a prosthesis: a crown or a bridge.

Finally, once the implant and crown or bridge have been installed by your implantologist, normal chewing and speech are restored, since the prostheses are as strong as natural teeth.

Visit price of a dental implant at our practice is €990. A dental abutment linking the implant to the prosthesis costs €405, and an implant-supported crown €850.

The cost of gum grafts or dental bone grafts may sometimes be added if their level is insufficient.

Your implantologist will offer you a full oral and dental check-up prior to treatment.

If necessary, we can offer you a personalized payment schedule forimplantology services not covered by social security or your health insurance.

The procedure to placeimplants for your teeth will take place under local anaesthetic at our dental practice specializing in implantology in Lyon.

Your implantologist will begin by making a slight incision in the gum to create a small opening in the jawbone. The implant will then be screwed in, and a few stitches added to allow the whole to heal.

A check-up by your implant dentist will verify that healing is taking place. We will then remove the wires.

The abutment and prosthesis are placed 3 to 6 months later, once the healing of the alveolar bone has allowed theimplant to integrate perfectly.

We will offer you a temporary crown in the meantime.
