What treatment is available for receding gums?
At Studio Dentaire, we regularly see patients suffering from more or less serious disorders. Our aim is to offer each patient attentive care and to involve them in their treatment, because it’s all about their health. When it comes to gingival retraction, our treatment protocol is fairly straightforward. Studio Dentaire offers a gum graft, accompanied, if necessary, by a frenectomy. Treatment takes place in two stages. First, we welcome you to the office for a full oral and dental check-up. At the same time, we give you a medical questionnaire to ensure that you have no contraindications to gum grafting (advanced periodontitis with reduced bone mass, serious or chronic illness). The operation then proceeds as follows:
- under anaesthetic, your dentist prepares the gum by gently peeling it away;
- he then removes the graft (in the case of an autogenous graft), usually from the palate;
- the practitioner places the graft and sutures it.
A few days later, you return to the office for a check-up, during which your dentist verifies that the graft has set properly. He also takes the opportunity to remove the stitches.
