Since the early 1980s, dental implants have revolutionized dental surgery. They take the form of small titanium screws that are inserted into the jawbone to replace the root of an extracted tooth. Titanium is a biocompatible material: once the implant is in place, the bone will heal around it. This is known as osseointegration: a direct bond is created between the bone and the titanium, reinforcing the implant’s long-term hold. Once healing is complete (between 3 and 6 months after placement), an abutment is placed on which a ceramic dental crown is fitted. Reliability: the success rate is very high (over 90%) . Once healed, the implant has an average lifespan of 16 years. It is highly resistant to the forces of mastication. The implant’s lifespan will depend on the quantity and quality of the bone in which it is embedded, the patient’s general state of health, the quality of tooth brushing, and the quantity and quality of the gingiva. – Stability and comfort: avoids the need for a more restrictive removable prosthesis. The comfort of a natural tooth is restored, with normal chewing and speech. – Discretion: only the ceramic prosthesis is visible when you open your mouth.

You will be followed by one of our 3 practitioners specialized in implantology. At your first appointment, we’ll carry out a full oral and dental check-up to ensure you receive the right care. In particular, we’ll check for the absence of periodontitis, which causes progressive bone loss and is one of the few contraindications to dental implant placement. If the bone level is naturally insufficient, we can consider a dental bone graft to increase bone height or thickness. Implant placement is quick and painless, and takes place in our operating room under local anaesthetic. Our implant dentists use a computer-assisted method to ensure that the procedure is precise and as minimally invasive as possible. Medication is prescribed before and after the procedure to prevent unpleasant swelling. After the operation, we provide follow-up care to ensure that the bone is healing properly. Once this is complete, we’ll schedule a ceramic crown and several follow-up sessions.
