Dental implantology is a branch of dentistry. Dental implants are used to replace the roots of extracted teeth.
The implant takes the form of a titanium screw that the dental surgeon installs in the jawbone. This artificial root can then be used to place a ceramic crown to replace the crown of the missing tooth. For a bridge, two dental implants are required if there are no abutment teeth.
Titanium is one of the few biocompatible materials: once the implant is installed, the alveolar bone will heal around it and integrate it into its structure. This is called osseointegration.

We gently incise the gingiva and prepare the site where the implant will be screwed in. Once the implant is in place, stitches are placed and the implant is removed 1 week later. The operation is completely painless.
It will then take between 3 and 5 months for the bone to heal completely. You will then be given an appointment for the installation of your ceramic crown.
The implant can be placed immediately after tooth extraction, if conditions allow, or after the gum and bone have healed.
