An inlay is a restoration technique in which a material is bonded into the cavity created by the treatment of a cavity, for example. Adental onlay is based on the same principle, but the material also covers the cusps – the “tips” of the tooth. In both cases, Studio Dentaire uses ceramics to produce the prostheses.

This type ofdental filling is indicated in cases of severe decay, as an alternative to fillings. The latter are potentially risky for the patient, while offering less longevity than inlays. Inlays prevent the dentist from devitalizing the tooth. The prosthesis is inserted into the cavity, between the remaining tooth walls, and is then completely undetectable.

Theonlay is a type of dental prosthesis. Like the inlay, its function is to replace the damaged or missing part of a tooth, but its use is reserved for more extensive damage. This filling covers all or part of the cusps and the biting surface. This prosthesis is manufactured in porcelain or ceramic by a specialized laboratory. Its tailor-made design ensures a perfect seal between the tooth and the onlay, avoiding any risk of waste or bacteria penetration.
Fitting an onlay or inlay requires two to three sessions. Beforehand, your dental surgeon performs a complete check-up of your oral health. The practitioner then takes a dental impression using a special 3D camera. These images are transmitted to our partner dental technicians, who then fabricate your customized dental prosthesis.
The first appointment is devoted to cavity treatment and cleaning. As soon as your inlay or onlay is ready, we’ll call you again to set it up.
As a rough guide, an onlay costs 685 euros. The Social Security reimbursement is 70 euros, but some mutual insurance companies cover dental prostheses. Our dental practice in Lyon can also offer you payment facilities.
