A dental veneer is a thin film of ceramic bonded to the outer surface of the tooth. Unlike a crown, the veneer allows only a small part of the tooth’s visible surface to be cut, keeping it alive. This veneer preparation technique is part of a modern concept of minimally invasive dentistry that promotes tissue preservation. Old restorations and decay are removed to create sufficient space for the ceramic, while minimizing tissue alteration of the natural tooth. Veneers provide a spectacular, natural aesthetic result.
