Wisdom teeth surgery is recommended in the following cases

The procedure is always performed under local anaesthetic. This is preferable to a general anaesthetic: not only do you not need to be hospitalized, but the post-operative effects are less severe, since you won’t suffer any swelling. Count on 1 hour to remove 2 teeth and 1.5 hours for 4. Overall, the operation is painless: you feel only a certain amount of pressure.
We will perform a simple extraction if the tooth is fully erupted. If it is embedded in the bone or semi-included, more sophisticated techniques may be used.
For a simple extraction, we mobilize the tooth before removing it with a small pair of forceps. In the case of an impacted tooth extraction, we first loosen the gum, then mobilize the tooth to free it, touching the jawbone as little as possible. The gum is then gently closed with absorbable sutures. The sutures are removed a week later at the surgery, where we check the healing process.
Removing wisdom teeth is a common medical procedure, but one that requires a few precautions in the days following the operation.
After the operation, we recommend that you do not drive. We often prescribe relaxing medication before the operation.
We also advise you to follow the post-operative prescription that we will have given you.
Post-operative consequences are benign. You will be able to return to work and normal activity the following day.
